NEOLUBE No. 2 Lubricant – Technical Datasheet

Colloidal Graphite in Isopropanol

Application

Neolube No. 2 is a stable dry film lubricant widely used at nuclear power plants and other industrial facilities as an anti-seize compound, thread lubricant, and for lubricating moving parts and rubbing surfaces. Its thin, adherent coating provides durable lubrication and conductivity without altering component dimensions.

  • Composition: Processed micro graphite, thermoplastic resin, and isopropanol.
  • Properties: Non-corrosive, abrasion-resistant, high chemical purity, and conductivity, suitable for critical industrial applications.

Proven Applications

Neolube No. 2 is recommended for the following applications:

  • Non-seize lubricant for bolts, metals, and valves
  • Mating surfaces in assemblies and machinery components
  • High-pressure air fittings or hydraulic systems
  • Buss bars with contact shoes and high-tension switch contacts
  • Static bleeding of conveyor belts, lubricant for conveyor chains, and static reduction on floors
  • Shielding from electric interference and static bleed
  • Die and mold pretreatment and atmospheric protection
  • Automotive and industrial gaskets

Mixing/Blending/Dilution

Neolube No. 2 is supplied ready for use. Mix uniformly before application. If additional dilution is required, add isopropanol. Apply by spray, brush, dip, or roller. Typical film thickness is 0.2 to 0.5 mil; for 1 mil, apply 5 coats of 0.2 mil by spray.

Surface Preparation

Ensure substrates are clean and dry. For porous surfaces, heat after cleaning to remove contaminants, solvents, or moisture.

Curing

Air dries to touch in 5 minutes and is ready for use in 30 minutes. To optimize performance, bake at 75°C (167°F) for 5 minutes after air drying.

Packaging

Available in 2-ounce, pint, quart, gallon, and 5-gallon containers.

Storage

Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Protect from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.

Health & Safety

Flammable. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through skin. May cause eye irritation. Use with adequate ventilation, and avoid breathing vapor. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for detailed handling and first aid instructions.

Certification

Neolube products are available certified to Military Specification MIL-L-24131 (specify Neolube No. 1). Product certification is available for each batch and shipment.
